Employer Network Day Restores Dignity and Unlocks Pathways to Opportunity
Today, SENZ hosted its second Employer Network Day, bringing together clients, employers, and community partners in a unique setting designed to break down barriers and create pathways into meaningful work.
For many people, the current system of online applications, cold calls, and digital-only recruitment creates invisible walls. Too often, those with potential are overlooked. Employer Network Day turned this model on its head by putting employers and clients in the same room, face-to-face, in an environment built on connection, honesty, and opportunity.
A highlight of the event was a panel of employers representing industries including real estate, recruitment, engineering, defence, and health and fitness. In a departure from polished corporate presentations, panellists spoke candidly about their own setbacks and challenges on the way to success. Their openness made career journeys relatable, showing clients that resilience, not perfection, is what builds futures.
In the weeks leading up to the event, SENZ supported clients with workshops focused on CV preparation, mock interviews, networking practice, and presentation skills. This preparation meant clients arrived ready to engage employers with confidence.
The impact was immediate. Several clients left the event with job interviews already confirmed for next week. Beyond the outcomes, Employer Network Day was about restoring dignity and mana to people who have experienced barriers, and helping them see their futures with vision and confidence.
“Today was about creating an environment where people who have been unemployed for some time could see that employment is achievable and hear real stories of hope,” said Cilla McMillan, SENZ MSD Manager. “My heart is that dignity is placed back on to our community. This is not just a networking event; it’s about equipping and lifting our people to build better futures. Opportunities are possible, and barriers can be overcome together.”
Employer Network Day reaffirmed that the barriers lie not in people, but in the systems that overlook them. When those barriers are removed and authentic opportunities are created, people rise to meet them.
This was SENZ’s second Employer Network Day, and with its clear success, the organisation is committed to running more in the future — continuing to strengthen employer partnerships and creating spaces where every person can be seen, valued, and supported into meaningful work.
